The alarm of fire was sounded. this morning at 1 o'elock, caused by the burn ing of a frame building on Wooater, between Ninth and Tenth streets, owned and occupied by Mr. Aaron Davis. The flames rapidly spread and soon two buildings adjoining, belonging to Mr. Jno. B. Wilkins, were consumed." A house owned and occupied by Henry Green caught, but was soon extinguished. Mr. Davis, in whose house tho fire originated, does not know the origin of it. He was awakened from his sleep by the cries of one of his children and discovered that one end of his house was in a light blaze. He got his family out as hurried" ly as possible, and then returned to try and save his furniture. Two mattresses and one chair was all that wassaved, and as Mr. Davis came oat he was bnrned on the hand and his hair badly singed. ' There was an insurance of $300 on bis houses, which will hardly cover the loss. The house next consumed was uq occupied and owned by Mr. Wilkins. The third house destroyed was occupied by Jacob Robinson, Sr. He saved all of his household effects. Henry Green's house was insured and the damage done is fully covered. Mr. Wilkins resides out of the city, and we could not ascertain if his property wa3 insured. Officer Edward Griffith sounded the alarm through the telephone on the corner of Seventh and Castle Streets, and the fire department were not long in get ting to the scene of conflagration. In the relations of daughter, wife and mother, she displayed all the instincts of the . ae, devoted, Christ ian woman. Beaut'ful in life, so the last dread summons brought no terrors for the great future beyond. The sweet charm ef ber life spread its wholesome and happy in fluence upon all by whom she was surround ed. All the attributes of the virtuous and accomplished wo wan were hers. None knew her but to lore and respect her, an particularly was she endeared to the young er portion of the community, among whom her lot was cast.
